Volt success hinged to massive tax subsidies?
Much ado about tax credits?According to Winding Road GM is engaged in a lobbying effort to have Congress create a tax credit for plug-in hybrid vehicles like the Chevy Volt.
"GM has been actively lobbying Congress in advance of the Volt’s arrival, for tax credits that would benefit, “extended-range electric vehicles” like the upcoming Chevy. Such a credit (or credits) could trim as much as $7,000 off the car’s sticker, making the Volt a far better potential value for the predicted 10,000 to 30,000 customers in year-one of the car, and helping to lay the groundwork for making it a high-volume seller in years to come."
I guess those German rumors of a $30,000 Volt were just the result of wishful thinking?

Surprise, surprise.
Better to spend the money developing THIS than a 104 acre fortress in Baghdad where we are only to be there "TEMPORARILY."
My wife and I paid over $40K in taxes last year....I'd not complain one bit if I knew my tax money is going to building new alternative energy cars/train system/buses...
But no...instead...out of that $40K we spent $16k for this fked up war and God knows how much more supporting settlements in Israel.
See, there is hope for you yet, Noz! Until there is no chance, there is still a chance. Yeah, people will probably screw it up, but there is still room for a little hope.
