New Honda hybrid on schedule

But it probably won't look like this

Without releasing any new details, Honda President Takeo Fukui confirmed that Honda's newest hybrid, a dedicated hybrid will be ready for sale in early 2009. The price of the new hybrid has not yet been released, but Honda has reiterated over-and-over their intent to sell more hybrid vehicles by making them cheaper.

According to the AP, "In addition to the new hybrid, Honda will introduce several other hybrids: a Civic, a new sporty model based on the CR-Z and a Fit subcompact, sold as the Jazz in Europe."

Wow...at least ONE automotive company is standing up to its word and actually promising something I think it can deliver.

Well done Honda for sticking to your principles to offer small, compact, efficient, and low cost cars. Well done indeed.

GM, Ford, Chrysler...keep keep subsidizing your dumb customer base to your pieces of crap SUVs. You're doing humanity a real favor.

i'm actually excited to see what Honda has to offer. in addition, toyota also has some new stuff coming out in 2009. 2009/2010 might actually be the year(s) of affordable hybrids - something i'm more excited about today than either plug-in hybrids or electric vehicles. this is something average americans can truly buy into.

i know ur not a gm fan, noz, but of all the big 3, i think gm actually has a plan, at least. i have yet to hear anything solid from either ford or chrysler. yes, gm has a ton of work to do, but if they actually put their paper plans into reality, gm could add a nice bit of hybrid competition - hopefully i'm not being too naive for believing that gm will follow through on their plans!!!!!

a year in retrospect Honda has released a few hybrids but i think the general public was jaw dropping differences and not realizing the manufacturer and industry support it needs to provide better hybrid cars.

Honda continues in the pack though and is benefiting from it!
