Questions about diesel v. hybrids
Diesel can save the world right?Ultimately, I hate comparing diesel technology to hybrid technology because it's like comparing apples to oranges. Unlike diesel technology, hybrid technology is not fuel dependent and hybrid technology can make diesel technology more fuel efficient. Still, I have a couple of issues regarding the hybrid cars versus diesel cars debate.
1.) Why are tests between diesel technology and hybrid technology made on the highway when it is city driving and congestion that result in the worst fuel economy, the worst pollution, and the worst CO2 emissions? If congestion is the future, why are we testing the past?
2.) It takes more oil to create a gallon of diesel than a gallon of gasoline. Creating diesel also causes more pollution. Why isn't this added into the fuel economy of diesel vehicles if the point is to reduce oil consumption?
I could go on, but I'll leave it that for now.

Because we have diesel shills who will cherry pick any detail or number to prove their "points."
Case in point: I argue with people regarding if diesels are better at VWVortex (some of the dumbest people I've ever come across online) and I claimed that since each barrel of oil makes rough only 8 gallons of diesel versus 20 gallons of gasoline, how is a 30% increase in fuel economy any beneficial?
So we are going to spend ALL that money to change the infrastructure from gasoline to diesel for what benefit? Wouldn't it make more sense to develop new technologies instead with all that money that will be used?
For your SECOND point, some people don't actually believe that information...even though it's in black and white...that's how dense these people are and that's what we face in trying to change people in this country.
I don't know how this will be resolved...I tend to think things will run into the ground before people learn. As a whole, we are literally small children who need to get our hands burned very badly before we listen to someone who keeps saying "don't put your hand over the fire...you'll burn yourself."
It's just too bad people like us need to live amongst such stupidity.
