Lutz takes cheap shot at Prius
All you do is talk, talk, talkIn the future - whenever that is - GM is going to build cheap hybrid vehicles "without the premium, where today if you buy a Toyota Prius you have to live to 150 to get back the premium over a conventional car," stated Bob Lutz.
Ironically, according to many studies, the Prius can recover its hybrid costs in less than 4 years for the average driver.
Of course, why be surprised that Lutz is again attacking the Prius? Just a few years ago, Bob Lutz openly and regularly mocked hybrid cars, even calling them stupid. Today, on the other hand, Mr. Lutz admits it was GM that was stupid. I guess when you don't have a competitive product, all you can do is blow hot air.

He'd be more fitting to work at Fox News than at GM. Wait...aren't they the same?
Let's see........... CEO's make how much to make incredibly stupid statement, to make incredibly stupid long term decisions and to lay off thousands of hard working employees who trust that top management knows what they are doing?

Actually, I think its pretty funny, and for GM faithful, I think it's actually effective.
Obviously, its nonsense, but for the 'volt nation' its effective. They already think the Prius is stupid just because its made by Toyota - that's all that matters.
Let's just think about whom Lutz makes these statements for - people that believe it is more American to buy a 2 mpg monster that guzzles foreign oil like its free, because it was made by an american automaker in Canada with parts from all over the world, rather than a car like the Prius, or even an american-made Camry hybrid that offers better national security for America.
Bob Lutz has to make stupid statements because he has a lot of stupid people to address.

We are dealing with a really really REALLY stupid bunch of people and that will be the end of us I think because of them.
While I'm sure some of them are not bible thumpers, I'd venture to say that most of them are...and the stereotypes that exist for this crowd are dead-on.
It's very very sad indeed that the rest of us have to be pulled down to such fathoms of stupidity by what amounts to a minority? (Or are they a majority?)
Just with his fact that we are faced with, do you honestly think we'll see change fast enough?
See change fast enough? Not fast enough for me, but I do believe that change for the automobile industry will happen like a snowball rolling down a mountain.
Today, change is the small snowball sitting on the precipice of what will be an earth-shaking descent. Just a few more nudges and its all down hill.
