Exxon v. Chevron: A battle for hybrid vehicle supremecy?

Hybrids ride the road to the future?

We've heard about the Chevron/Cobasys conspiracy to inhibit hybrid and electric vehicle development. Even Exxon has thrown its hat into the hybrid ring with a focus on separator film technology -a critical component to lithium batteries. So, are these oil companies conspiring to keep Americans addicted to oil?

Exxon, a a major player in the world's separator technology for electronic devices, sees a big future in hybrid vehicles, according to the Wall Street Journal. Not only is there a profit margin for the company in hybrids, but perfecting the separator technology for large-battery-using hybrids can help the company gain more traction into the overall electronics market - a bigger market than hybrids - as the world heads into the digital/electronic revolution.

And, back to Cobasys - the company still believes that technological improvements will enable NiMH to challenge lithium.

I will apologize ahead of time for any "language" that may be deemed inappropriate but I have to say it like it is....so I hope it's within your limits of acceptance Dahc...

I, for one, firmly believe that these bastards have conspired from the start to keep us addicted...what drug dealer wouldn't?? Let's be honest.

These people are truly scum...the bottom of the barrel of humankind right next to arms dealers and the rest of related gang. Just look at what has been done in the last 60 years to people around the world for the name of oil. How many graves have been dug for the millions upon millions of people murdered in numerous wars and so on.

Not a single...SINGLE... effective and sincere effort has been performed or committed to reducing consumption...which is now more than 1000 barrels of crude per second...that's right...per second.

There is no plan to reduce consumption...there is no plan on what will happen when we cannot produce enough oil...or if we do, how we won't kill ourselves doing it due to pollution, environmental damage, etc..nothing.

Instead, Americans and the rest of the world who follow our pathetic example just continue to consume as there is no tomorrow...people don't even are interested one iota about knowing what will happen....how they'll be able to maintain their McMansions, and SUV's and drive whereever they want, when they want.

What's more...these same douchebags are the one's poppign out kids in suburbia like there's no tomorrow and talk everybody's ear off about precious children are and how they have to be protected and have neighbourhood watches, and check to see if there are sexual preditors in their area...what a fking joke!

Ask these same idiots if they'll live in a smaller house or drive a smaller car, they'll call the police on you for being a radical environmentalist. THIS is the people Chevron and Exxon are pulling the strings of.

So you see, it's no wonder they won't stop the drugs flowing to the addicts...

BUT...what truly blows my mind is how stupid, ignorant, and arrogant they (the oil firms) are that they are clearly and tangibly willing to drive it over the edge of no return. It boils down to probably a mere 100,000 people worldwide in high places who are running the show for whom over 6 BILLION people are living their lives out for.

What an absurbly stupid world we live...what an absurdly stupid species we are.

Very true noone really understands the concept at all.I'm an auto mechanic for over twenty five years and many times I've tried to figure out how to get around the gas/oil thing and they've got there hands on something so woven into the fabric of life its disgusting! Any changes and your car/truck will destroy itself. Esspecilay now with the feedback systems etc. The big picture really scares me now because "big coal" now is trying to get in the picture so much for the enviroment!! And not one politician is really stepping up to the plate to talk a real energy policy....God forbid they mention nukes / or tell Ted Kennedy he might have to entertain wind generation by the compound!! I could gpo on for hours about this with technical data to back it up but I'm so sick of all this BS it makes me so angry!!!,

More people should learn about electric vehicles as a solution. "Zero emissions" is something that's going to be required by law one day (you know it will). Making the decision to go electric is far cheaper anyway, like 10 cents on the dollar vs. gas. (source: zapworld.com)
