Diesel hybrids too expensive for America

69 mpg costs a lot of money

Unless and until diesel hybrid vehicles become a significant hit in Europe, don't expect many diesel hybrids to hit American shores anytime soon, thanks to the costs of both clean diesel engines and the costs of hybrid technology writes CNNMoney this morning in an interview with Keith Price, a spokesman for Volkswagen of America, regarding VW's Golf hybrid.

It would be nice if they'd back it up by numbers and not just rhetoric....sounds like they are just fear mongering people like usual....

WMD's anyone?

Sadly, I agree. Can we go back to at least pretending to care about the customer?
What are they waiting for? $5.00 gas before they come out with a decent hybrid?
Horses to become a viable alternative?

More people should learn about electric vehicles as a solution. "Zero emissions" is something that's going to be required by law one day (you know it will). Making the decision to go electric is far cheaper anyway, like 10 cents on the dollar vs. gas. (source: zapworld.com)
