Eli Manning to receive one of first Escalade hybrids

Super Bowl MVP chooses an Escalade hybrd

I know, I've been making way too much out of my belief that the Cadillac Escalade hybrid was the perfect hybrid to market during the Super Bowl. This will be my third and final post on the subject. After winning this year's Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning was able to pick out a new ride from a number of Cadillacs, and he chose the Escalade hybrid. Told you so!?

I know he 'chose' the escalade hybrid, but did he really? Was he coached to do so? GM has made a habit recently of giving away hybrids at big games, so why not here?

Wasn't trying to defend the car, noz, just trying to make the best of reality.

And, I agree Mike, why not here?

When rumors about GM's potential hybrid commericials emerged, I made a post suggesting that if GM is going to make a hybrid commerical for the Super Bowl, why not use the Escalade hybrid.

NFL players drive luxury cars and gas-guzzling SUVs, and a very popular car within the NFL community is the Escalade. Thus, I thought that GM should use the NFL and the Super Bowl to highlight the Escalade hybrid - if any hybrid at all.

My point wasn't to glorify the Escalade, or even the Escalade hybrid, its to create awareness around hybrid technology and the importance of hybrid technology.

If fans see their idols purchasing a hybrid Escalade, rather than a conventional Escalade, fans might start asking, 'why a hybrid', which leads to answers like pollution, global warming, foreign oil dependency, etc.

Hopefully, that leads them to other hybrids, or to the importance of fighting pollution, global warming, foreign oil dependency, etc.

Sadly, Americans are very influenced by pop culture and athletes, I'd rather try to turn this envy into something positive, which I thought the Escalade hybrid might be able to do.
