Oil futures hit $100.00
2008 and $4.00 gas?Oil futures touched $100.00 per barrel today. So, get out there and buy your hybrids vehicles. I know you want to wait for a 100 mpg plug-in hybrid, but you're going to be waiting a few years for such vehicles, a few years of, potentially, very high gas prices. At $100 per barrel, hybrids are only going to become a more valuable hedge against energy prices.

I'll try to get by with my 38mpg Honda Civic until I can buy a plug-in-vehicle.

John-
And I'm assuming from your blog that you'll be powering that plug-in vehicle with solar power. That's awesome.
I've just heard too many times from many considering hybrids that they are waiting for 100 mpg hybrids before going hybrid. With oil at $100 per barrel, buy a hybrid today rather than a conventional car. It might not achieve 100 mpg, but the extra money for the hybrid costs will more than pay for themselves AND the purchase is an investment in battery technology for 100 mpg hybrids.
