The Tahoe hybrid: Cause for a Mini environmental attack?

Deserving of the Green Car of the Year Award?

Yesterday, as I was walking through the Auto Show, I found myself near the Mini Cooper stand, and I thought I would check out some Minis for people whom might want to focus on fuel economy, without buying a hybrid vehicle.

I was SHOCKED.

As I was checking out these very small cars, which are gorgeous by the way, I noticed that many of them offer city fuel economy in the low 20's - the same city fuel economy of the HUGE Chevy Tahoe hybrid. (Finish)

Now, I don't even consider highway fuel economy anymore. Perhaps that's because I live in an urban part of inner Los Angeles. Maybe its because congestion is the most important aspect of determining fuel economy, in my opinion, considering its the driving condition that causes the most pollution, the worst fuel economy, and it's a massively, constantly growing problem.

Hate the Tahoe hybrid because it's a large SUV. It is, it's huge, and if you don't have a family, you probably shouldn't be driving one. I have a family of four and a Toyota Prius works just fine, and I can even fit an extra kid in the car for a ride to the beach when needed.

Nonetheless, the Tahoe hybrid is as fuel efficient, or more fuel efficient, than a significant percentage of cars on the road today in city driving, including many very SMALL vehicles, such as the Mini. So, hate the Tahoe hybrid for being a big SUV if you must, but hate the Mini and most other automobiles on the road today as well.
