Lithium batteries ready for the 3rd Gen. Prius

Toyota's lithium batteries ready to go

Are you waiting for the third generation Toyota Prius? Well, the biggest issue regarding the third iteration of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive has been the lithium-ion batteries, and how soon those batteries could be available - not just for the third gen Prius, but for all of Toyota's hybrids.

Well, stop waiting.

Masatami Takimoto, executive vice president in charge of powertrain development, announced today that Toyota's lithium-ion battery, under development with Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., was technically ready to be mounted on hybrid cars "any time".

So this begs the question of whether or not Toyota will implement this new battery in the 2008 Prius? My wife and I are watching very closely to all of the news surrounding the Prius as we are anxiously waiting to get one but are holding off for improvements.

The 2008 Prius should blow the other auto makers out of the water, if Toyota achieves the 100+ mpg spec.
Toyota should use intergrated solor panels.

I plan on trading in my 2003 Prius for a 2008.

GO GREEN, USE CFL's
