What do you think about the death of the Honda Insight

The Honda Insight is a dead car driving. While it helped inspire a generation, the writing on the wall that this day was coming was shouting loud and clear.I know there are some huge Honda Insight fans out there, but the writing on the wall that the end was near has been building for more than a year. When it comes to hybrid cars, the Insight will always be a reminder of change, but it was never intended to be a big seller. Hopefully, the death of the Honda Insight will simply lead to more widely-appealing hybrids from Honda.

It's very sad to see the noose around the Insight's neck, but as you say, it was inevitable. It's too bad we'll have to wait until 2009 for the replacement. Until then, it's the Civic and the Accord. And the Accord doesn't really get excellent mileage.

For some it might be an opportunity to look for a good deal on a used one!? I also suspect that Honda will deliver its next hybrid early. I think they gave themselves plenty of time just so they have it, not because they absolutely need it. So, keep your fingers crossed!

There were rumours of putting the Insight's engine and IMA motor into the Fit, and there were rumours of a small convertible hybrid to replace the Insight. However, no solid evidence of either has materialized. Whatever happens, yes, I am definitely keeping my fingers crossed.

A re-design would have been better than doing away with a car that is capable of gas mileage in excess of 60 mpg.

manuel vancouver island,
looking for a hybrid...was excited about the Insight...sad to hear they don't make it..... It looks great and with gas here in Canada almost 1.30 a LITRE (what are you complaining about! ). Canada supplies 60% of U.S. oil and we pay about 20% more at the pump! Anyway I would love a 4 seater Insight as the perfect car...about the size of the Matrix/Vibe I am waiting, till then I'll keep my old Subaru Loyale.

The aluminum Insights were terrific little
cars, the ones since are altogether unacceptable, they are just too ugly and too heavy.
