Small business tax deduction for hybrid vehicles?

A couple of weeks ago I complained about capped tax credits for hybrid cars in light of the fact that there were no caps on the $25,000.00+ small business tax deduction for the worst gas-guzzlers. In that post, I suggested transferring the small business tax deduction from gas-guzzlers to hybrids. Well, I wasn't the only one thinking about this issue.

“The tax code shouldn’t favor SUVs over alternative energy cars for business owners,” said Sen. Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican and chairman of the Finance Committee. (MSNBC)

While there is little talk of canceling the deduction for 3 ton plus SUVs, at least hybrids would be included in the mix.

Let's hope this gets pushed through!
