Honda Accord Hybrid Testimonials

Honda Accord hybrid testimonials including gas mileage and other experience from Accord hybrid owners. My Accord hybrid gets 17-18 mpg when my driving consists only of inner city San Francisco's stop and go traffic with lots of hills.

Local highway trips yield 26-28mpg generally.

I usually get 37-39 mpg on trips from San Francisco to Orange County (which is past LA.) The drive is all highway, but often has some mix of stop and go in the bay area and then the long steep grade up and down the Grapevine.

Hope that helps.

After 16,000 miles, my average mph is 32 mph city and highway. I have exceeded 40 mph multiple times under ideal conditions on the highway. I have acheived 38 mph on local routes.

In order to achieve 40/38, an extremely light foot on the accelator is required. Allowing your speed to drop as you go up hill and picking up speed as go down hill. Also required is light traffic.

My wife says "you are driving like an old man" when I am obtaining high mpg. On the downside, I have experienced 25/32 mpg under normal conditions using a heavy foot.

Conclusion, your driving habits and conditions will dictate your miles per gallon.

BOUGHT A 2005 ACCORD HYBRID IN SEPTEMBER 2005. ON TRIPS TO PENNSYLVANIA FROM MASSACHUSETTS, I AVERAGE 36.5 MPG DOING EXACTLY THE SPEED LIMIT ON CRUISE CONTROL. BACK & FORTH TO WORK ON RURAL ROADS, FAIRLY FLAT, I AVERAGE 31.5 MPG REGULARLY W/O AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL TURNED ON.

I have a 2005 Accord hybrid and I average about 28.5 overall. I drop down to about 20 for short trips such as running errands. I am consistent at about 37 to 39 on the interstate with the cruise set at 70 -72. I drove from Portland to Sonoma and averaged 40.1 mpg at that speed and that included two stops.
I am overall happy. I wish it were better around town but it exceeds the highway estimates and I have cut my gas use by 1/3 with no loss of comfort and an increase in performance. My work sprung for the car lease so the extra money was a non issue for me.
You do learn how to drive to maximize mileage, I can beat my wifes mileage by 1 or 2mpg on similar trips.

My 2005 Accord Hybrid has about 32,000 miles now. I echo a previous comment that how conservatively you drive will significantly impact mileage.
City - depends on traffic levels but anywhere from 18-28 mpg.
Highway conservative - If kept between 50 and 62 mph mostly cruise control 37-42 mpg.
Highway in a hurry - 65-85 mph will yield 30-33 mpg.

To get out of my neighborhood, I have to turn left across two lanes of busy 45mph traffic. I REALLY appreciate the 0-60 in 6 seconds power the 240 Horse Power gives me. It's there when I need it in Chicago traffic, but my wife also often says I am driving like an old man when I try to optimize gas mileage.

I have a 2005 Accord hybrid and notice when I come to a complete stop it there is an odd feeling of hesitation when I start to move again. The auto stop light lights up...is this typical of hybrids? The engine shutting down then starting again?
Will adding a spare tire impact my mileage dramatically?

I have 75000 miles on my 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid. No problems. I average 32 mpg in mixed urban driving,25 for in city driving and 37-42 for highway driving. I have just replaced the original Michelin high MPG tires withgood but ordinary tires it reduced my MPG by 2 mpg. My saving have more than repaid the extra original purchase price. I plan to drive the car for morethan 150,000 miles and enjoy the savings or buy something with better savings.

We just purchased a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. 4 door. Trading in our 2004 Honda Accord. The directions for using the Hybrid is confusing. The battery lines are running high. The bottom green lines are not on while driving only when stopping. We drive some long distance but usually approxminatly 20 to 30 miles per trip. When the assist white lines come on does that mean the battery is being used. When cruising at a 60 mph with cruise control the panel shows one green line. Is that showing gas is being used ???? I am confused!!!!I think I am Hybrid illiterate. Help!!! please give me some tips!!!

More people should learn about electric vehicles as a solution. "Zero emissions" is something that's going to be required by law one day (you know it will). Making the decision to go electric is far cheaper anyway, like 10 cents on the dollar vs. gas. (source: zapworld.com)

I have had my Honda Accord Hybrid for 8 months and have found the gas milage to be disappointing around town. I would characterize my driving as 50% highway, and 50 % around town. I have not done any intercity driving. My Driving has been conservative in an attempt to maximize the gas milage. During last winter's driving in Southern New England, I averaged only 21 to 22 mpg. I discovered that the hybrid function is inactivated when the defroster is turned on. My summer mpg has been better at about 26 mpg average. This is still far lower than my expectations for this vehicle.
I now know why Honda no longer builds or sells this vehicle!!

While hybrid cars are certainly better than SUVs, most of the mpg estimates hybrid owners are giving are no better than a regular, non-hybrid Honda. I have a 1997 Honda Civic and on average I get between 35 - 40 mpg. Until a car company can present a vehicle (hybrid or not) that has a better mpg rate than mine, I'll stick with my old Civic.

i don't know, but 55 mpg in the city in a prius sounds like better fuel economy than your civic.

I bought a used 2005 Honda Accord Hybrid in April 2008. I stay at 65 miles per hour on the highway, and drive the speed limit in the city, or no more than 5mph above the speedlimit.

I have been getting between 29 and 33 miles per gallon in the city, and 35 to 39 miles per gallon on the highway.
