New Civic Hybrid should be a winner
The new Honda Civic hybrid should be a winner.According to a USAToday article, Redesigned hybrid has flair, the new Civic hybrid will offer better performance via increased horsepower, better fuel efficiency, and better styling that is "Somewhere between engaging and gorgeous."
A press release from Honda notes that the Civic hybrid should hit dealers in October. Honda has not yet released the pricing for the new hybrid, but it should be close to the $21,500 price tag of the current hybrid Civic.
The should increase the competition between hybrid cars and provide a nice challenge to the Toyota Prius hybrid.

I did a comparison of the USA Today article with the similar article 2 years ago for the Prius. The Civic gets about 36 mpg while the Prius gets around 48 mpg in the authors test drive of about 200 miles. The Civic has about 20 more horsepower so I assume it is faster. I think the Prius is still ahead of the Civic and I can only assume that the Prius will be updated in a few years giving the Prius even more of an advantage.
The Prius is the best hybrid, especially if you live in a city, where the Civic hybrid doesn't do nearly as well.
The new Civic hybrid will make up this gap a little.
Still, I hate the styling of the current Civic hybrid, and the new Civic looks much better.
